Holcomb's record-setting day in early 2003 first comes to mind. In a wild card contest against Pittsburgh, the signal caller had one of the best postseason performances of all-time. Holcomb torched the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense for 429 yards (the third-highest total of all-time) and three touchdowns - but the Browns lost 36-33.

bills tixLast season, Holcomb tossed for a regular-season high of 419 yards and five touchdowns in a shootout against the Cincinnati Bengals - although the Browns lost again, 58-48.

These days, Holcomb finds himself with a different similarity to the superhero: leading two different lives. By day, professional quarterback. By night? Well …

"You want me to be honest with you? What I've been doing in my spare time is unloading boxes for my new house," the Bills new quarterback said with a laugh.

That's right. Holcomb's been spending countless hours honing his skills as an amateur mover.

"I bought a place up here and we had to unload the furniture. It feels like I've got about a thousand boxes," Holcomb said. "So that's what I've been doing after practice every day until about 7 o'clock at night."

When Holcomb isn't playing the role of the moving man, he is adjusting to his new role with the Bills. After dealing with Butch Davis' revolving door of quarterbacks in Cleveland for four years, the Bills added Holcomb to their roster during the offseason. The team added the 31-year-old to be a mentor for new starting quarterback J.P. Losman and serve as a dependable backup.

The QB said the transition to the Bills offense hasn't been a difficult one.

"I'm getting more and more comfortable each day," he said. "We did a lot of the same stuff in Cleveland, it's just different terminology. You just have to take what you knew it by and translate it in your brain with how they call it."

Even though Holcomb had the chance to possibly start elsewhere, he chose to sign with Buffalo anyways. What made him decide to become a Bill?

"I've played for a little while (this will be Holcomb's ninth year in the league) … I want to win," he said. "We had a rough go-around in Cleveland. We only had one winning season. I think when you look at all of the teams this was the best place. We've got a lot of veteran guys on our team that have been there, that have done it. That's the thing that intrigued me. … and I have some familiarity with these guys. I wanted to win and I wanted to be with people I knew."

Holcomb also thinks that both he and fellow backup QB Shane Matthews can help Losman this year by offering some of the knowledge they have acquired during their time in the league. The two have 19 years of combined NFL experience.

"We've got a good working relationship," Holcomb said. "I think everybody in our quarterback room is pretty good. We all help each other and we all realize that we're here to win football games and we're going to try to help each other accomplish that."

Although he hasn't been in town very long, Holcomb has already sensed the team's urgency to make the playoffs this season.

"We've got a good group of guys up here and I think they've got a bitter taste in their mouth from last year," he said. "And they want to get in the playoffs and see how far we can go."

In the meantime though, it's back to moving boxes.

"I've still got a bunch to do," he said
